GENERAL PROVISIONS

ARTÍCULO 1. La presente Ley es de orden público e interés social, de observancia general en los Estados Unidos Mexicanos y tiene por objeto regular el reconocimiento y protección de los derechos lingüísticos, individuales y colectivos de los pueblos y comunidades indígenas, así como la promoción del uso cotidiano y desarrollo de las lenguas indígenas, bajo un contexto de respeto a sus derechos.

ARTICLE 1. This Law is of public order and social interest, of general observance in the United Mexican States and its purpose is to regulate the recognition and protection of the linguistic, individual and collective rights of indigenous peoples and communities, as well as the promotion of the daily use and development of indigenous languages, in a context of respect for their rights.
