1. Objetivo

1. Objective

Esta Norma Oficial Mexicana establece las especificaciones mínimas que deben cumplir los aparatos sanitarios y sus respectivos accesorios, con el fin de asegurar la operación hidráulica, la hermeticidad y un uso eficiente del agua.

This Official Mexican Standard establishes the minimum specifications that sanitary appliances and their respective accessories must meet, in order to ensure hydraulic operation, tightness and efficient use of water.

Así mismo establece los métodos de prueba que deben aplicarse para verificar el cumplimiento, el procedimiento para evaluar la conformidad, y precisa además, los requisitos que se deben de incluir en el marcado de información al público.

It also establishes the test methods that must be applied to verify compliance, the procedure to assess conformity, and also specifies the requirements that must be included in the public information marking.

2. Campo de aplicación

2. Field of application

Esta Norma Oficial Mexicana aplica a los inodoros, mingitorios, válvulas de admisión y válvulas de descarga, sellos obturadores y fluxómetros de uso sanitario; que se fabriquen o se importen y se comercialicen en los Estados Unidos Mexicanos.

This Official Mexican Standard applies to toilets, urinals, intake valves and discharge valves, shutter seals and flushometers for sanitary use; that are manufactured or imported and marketed in the United Mexican States.

Se excluyen del campo de aplicación los siguientes dispositivos:

The following devices are excluded from the field of application:

a.         Tapas, asientos y partes que no intervengan en el funcionamiento hidráulico de los inodoros y mingitorios;

a.         Covers, seats and parts that do not intervene in the hydraulic operation of toilets and urinals;

b.         Las letrinas, inodoros para vehículos terrestres y marinos, inodoros entrenadores que no usen agua, y

b.         Latrines, toilets for land and marine vehicles, waterless training toilets, and

c.         Bidés.
