1. Objetivo

1. Objective

El objetivo de la presente Norma Oficial Mexicana es establecer los límites máximos permisibles de emisiones de hidrocarburos (HC), hidrocarburos no metano (HCNM), monóxido de carbono (CO), óxidos
de nitrógeno (NOx) e hidrocarburos no metano más óxidos de nitrógeno (HCNM+NOx), provenientes del escape de motores nuevos que usan gasolina, gas licuado de petróleo, gas natural y otros combustibles alternos que se utilizarán para la propulsión de vehículos automotores, así como unidades nuevas equipadas con este tipo de motores, con peso bruto vehicular mayor a 3,857 kilogramos, y de las emisiones de hidrocarburos evaporativos provenientes del sistema de combustible de dichos vehículos.

The objective of this Official Mexican Standard is to establish the maximum permissible limits of emissions of hydrocarbons (HC), non-methane hydrocarbons (HCNM), carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and non-methane hydrocarbons plus nitrogen oxides (HCNM+NOx), coming from the exhaust of new motors that use gasoline, liquid petroleum gas, natural gas and other alternative combustibles that will be utilized for the propulsion of motor vehicles, as well as new units equipped with this type of motors, with gross vehicular weight greater than 3,857 kilograms and of the emissions of evaporative hydrocarbons coming from the system of combustible of said vehicles.
