Los equipos, medidas y elementos de seguridad que deben ir a bordo de las embarcaciones, serán los suficientes para garantizar la seguridad de la vida humana en aguas nacionales, así como la protección al medio ambiente marino. Por lo tanto, esta Norma Oficial Mexicana de Emergencia proporciona de manera simplificada y práctica, información para determinar el equipamiento relativo a los componentes, medidas, elementos de seguridad, medios de salvamento, equipos de comunicación y navegación, con que deberán estar dotadas las embarcaciones objeto de esta norma.
