that establishes the characteristics, the procedure of identification, classification, and the lists of hazardous wastes. (published June 23, 2006 – effective Sept. 23, 2006) This NOM cancels and replaces NOM-052-
SEMARNAT-1993, Until Sept. 23 you will receive both NOM's with the purchase of either.

This NOM contains a step by step procedure for defining a waste as hazardous.

1. Objective and field of application

Esta Norma Oficial Mexicana establece los límites máximos permisibles de contaminantes en las descargas de aguas residuales vertidas a aguas y bienes nacionales, con el objeto de proteger su calidad y posibilitar sus usos, y es de observancia obligatoria para los responsables de dichas descargas. Esta Norma Oficial Mexicana no se aplica a las descargas de aguas provenientes de drenajes pluviales independientes.

 

This Official Mexican Standard establishes the maximum permissible limits of contaminants in the discharges of wastewaters poured into National waters and resources, for the purpose of protecting its quality and make its utilization possible, and is of obligatory observance for the parties responsible for said discharges. This Official Mexican Standard does not apply to the discharges of waters originating from independent storm drains.
