NOM-SECRE or NOM-SENER  - Energy and natural gas standards -are the responsibility of the Secretary of Energy.

SEMARNAT-2005,
that establishes the characteristics, the procedure of identification, classification, and the lists of hazardous wastes. (published June 23, 2006 – effective Sept. 23, 2006) This NOM cancels and replaces NOM-052-
SEMARNAT-1993, Until Sept. 23 you will receive both NOM's with the purchase of either.

This NOM contains a step by step procedure for defining a waste as hazardous.

FIRST LIST OF HIGHLY HAZARDOUS ACTIVITIES and the
SECOND LIST OF HIGHLY HAZARDOUS ACTIVITIES

The 2 lists of highly hazardous activities include the production, processing, transport, storage, use or final disposition of chemical substances when volumes equal or higher than the following reporting quantities are handled:

 

These 2 lists of highly risky activities are issued for activities in which toxic substances are handled. These activities are the production, processing, transport, storage, use or final disposition of the substances on the lists, when volumes are equal or higher than the quantities indicated on the lists:

 

If you are using, transporting, or handling any chemical substances in your projects you must consult the lists of highly risky activities and see if anything on the lists is involved in your project, in which case you must do a RISK STUDY.
