NEW STANDARD -- NOM-005-SCT-2008, Emergency information for the transport of hazardous substances, materials, and wastes.

Published in the DOF August 14, 2008 – effective Oct. 14, 2008

This new NOM takes effect on Oct 15, 2008 - if you purchase it before Oct 14th, you will receive both the current standard (NOM-005-SCT-2000) and the new standard.

  1. Objective
La presente Norma Oficial Mexicana tiene como objetivo establecer los datos y especificaciones que debe contener la Información de Emergencia para el Transporte de Substancias, Materiales y Residuos Peligrosos, que indique las acciones a seguir para casos de incidente o accidente (fugas, derrames, explosiones, incendios, exposiciones, etc.), que debe llevar toda unidad de transporte, durante el transporte de substancias, materiales y residuos peligrosos, en bolsa o carpeta-portafolios en un lugar accesible de la unidad, retirada de la carga.   The present Official Mexican Standard has as its objective the establishment of  the data and specifications that the Emergency Information for the Transport of Hazardous Substances, Materials and Wastes must contain, indicating the actions to follow in the event of   incidents or accidents (leaks, spills, explosions, fires, exposures, etc.), that all units of transport must carry, during the transport of hazardous substances, materials, and wastes, in a bag or notebook in an accessible place in  the unit, separate from the load.

Esta Norma Oficial Mexicana es de observancia obligatoria para los expedidores, transportistas y destinatarios de las substancias, materiales y residuos peligrosos que se transporten por las vías generales de comunicación terrestre, marítima y aérea.

 

  This Official Mexican Standard is of obligatory observance for the expeditors, transporters, and persons receiving hazardous substances, materials and wastes that are transported by general routes of land, sea or air communication.
