MINIMUM WAGES
are regulated by
Chapter VI of the
LABOR LAW
The National Commission of Minimum Wages, a
department of the (STPS) Secretary Of Labor and Social
Welfare, acting under Article 570 of the Federal Labor Law
which states that “minimum wages will
be set each year and will take effect on the first day of
January of the following year,”
publishes every year in December, in the (DOF) Official Daily
of the Federation, the revised minimum wages by profession.
Effective
January 1, 2008.

For the purposes of
minimum wages,
Mexico is divided into three geographic areas
(A, B, and C) which have distinct wages based on the analysis
and studies performed by the Commission.
Minimum wages also differ by profession -
the wages below are the general minimums. To view the wages
by profession in English, click on the links below the
following table.
These three

new general minimum wages* (PESOS)
effective January 1, 2008: *These
are the legal minimum wages for a day of work (not by
the hour) - it doesn't necessarily reflect
what people are actually earning.
