La hermeticidad de las fuentes selladas es un requisito indispensable para cumplir con las normas de seguridad radiológica, tal y como lo establecen los artículos 59, 60, 61, 64, 65, 66, 67 y 68 del Reglamento General de Seguridad Radiológica. Esta parte de la reglamentación demanda que existan garantías sobre la integridad del encapsulado de las fuentes selladas, a fin de reducir al mínimo el riesgo de dispersión del material radiactivo, lo que podría ocasionar una contaminación.

The hermeticity of the sealed sources is an indispensable requirement for complying with the radiological safety standards, as established in articles 59, 60, 61, 64, 65, 66, 67, and 68 of the General Regulation of Radiological Safety. This part of the regulation demands that guarantees exist on the integrity of that contained within the sealed sources, for the purpose of reducing to the minimum the risk of dispersion of radioactive material that could cause contamination.
