0. INTRODUCTION

El agua congénita o de formación, es agua salada que se encuentra dentro de la roca, asociada a la presencia de hidrocarburos. Contiene sales disueltas, como cloruros de calcio y sodio, carbonatos de sodio, cloruros de potasio, sulfatos de calcio o de bario, entre otros; puede incluso contener algunos metales.
La concentración de estos componentes puede ocasionar impactos negativos al medio ambiente cuando su manejo y disposición no son adecuados.

 

Congenital water or water from a formation, is salt water that is found within rock, associated with the presence of hydrocarbons. It contains dissolved salts, such as calcium and sodium chlorides, sodium carbonates, potassium chorides, calcium sulfates or barium sulfates, among others; it also can contain some metals. The concentration of these compounds can cause negative impacts on the environment when handling and disposal are not adequate.
