La Ley General del Equilibrio Ecológico y la Protección al Ambiente, así como su Reglamento en Materia de Prevención y Control de la Contaminación de la Atmósfera, establecen que la calidad del aire debe ser satisfactoria en todos los asentamientos humanos y las regiones del país y que las emisiones de contaminantes a la atmósfera deben ser reducidas y controladas, para asegurar una calidad del aire satisfactoria para el bienestar de la población y el equilibrio ecológico.   The General Law of Ecological Equilibrium and Protection of the Environment (LGEEPA), as well as its Regulation in Matters of Prevention and Control of the Contamination of the Atmosphere establish that the quality of the air must be satisfactory in all human habitations and regions of the country and that the emissions of contaminants to the atmosphere must be reduced and controlled for assuring a satisfactory quality of air for the wellbeing of society and ecological equilibrium.
